Early childhood encounters that serve to cause a youngster to feel self-conscious, embarrassed or humiliated can lead, later in life, to that person experiencing unhelpful presentation nerves. Even if we don’t actually recall such early experiences, they can get stored in our unconscious mind where they are prone to affect the underlying beliefs we end up holding about ourselves. For example, this may be the origin of a possible believe that could says; ‘I can’t speak in front of a crowd because I’ll just end up saying something stupid’.
Both presentation nerves and more deep-seated social phobias tend to respond well to hypnotherapy and its related disciplines. After just a few treatments, clients frequently start to notice a marked difference in the way they feel about certain social situations. They also notice a difference in the way they actually deal with them.
By steering you into a state of deep relaxation, the hypnotherapist can access your unconscious mind. He can then use this hypnotic state to introduce new, beneficial suggestions about your capacity to handle social situations and go on to assist you in building more helpful beliefs about your intrinsic ability.
During our sessions, I am in this way able to provide you with professional support in combating your presentation fears and insecurities. Our work will target your particular needs and could include such factors as overcoming a fear of talking in meetings, excessive blushing, unhelpful shyness, stuttering, etc. It could have the added benefit of boosting your self-esteem and self-confidence, which could in turn support positive change in other areas of your life.
It is inspiring to watch people in the world of business become self-assured and flourish, but the benefits of hypnotherapy and its related disciplines are not limited to the work place. They can, of course, impact on many other social situations such as delivering a good and confident wedding speech, making a point at a PTA meeting or just enjoying easy small talk at the next social event you attend.
In addition, if you are planning to deliver speeches, I will be able to offer practical support, should you need it. Having gone through the Toastmaster International programme and been awarded a Competent Speaker certificate, I have an understanding of the nuts and bolts of effective public speaking and can help you to feel confident when all eyes are on you.
